What Does Being OSHA Forklift Certified Mean?

by admin on November 28, 2011

Before an employee can be deemed to be forklift trained and certified they need to go through the forklift training process. Once both the theoretical and practical examinations contained within the forklift training module have been completed and passed by the trainee they will be classified as OSHA certified. This essentially means that the trainee has demonstrated that they have the knowledge and ability to operate a forklift in a safe manner within the work environment.

Once the certification and training process has been completed formal documentation must be maintained on the employers records. This official documentation must include the name of the forklift operator, the date of both the theoretical and practical training, the date of physical evaluation, as well as the identity and credentials of the person who carried out the training. This certificate will be emblazoned with your company logo and must be signed by both the operator and employer to be valid. The certification will remain valid for three years.
