While it is true that forklift training, certification and licencing is not a legal requirement in order to become a forklift operator, employers offer huge incentive to be so. This incentive arises in the notion that without being certified you are highly unlikely to not be employed – employers more often than not look for forklift operators who are certified, trained and have experience.
There are a number of common reasons why employers prefer candidates who have undertaken forklift training and certification rather than those who haven’t.
- Uncertified operators pose a huge insurance threat to the employer. If an injury occurs whilst the forklift is under the operation of an uncertified operator – the employer can be liable for any damages that ensue.
- By undertaking forklift training the employer can see that you are serious about your career and will make a positive contribution to their workplace.
- Forklift operators who have undertaken the certification process tend to be more skillful and more productive assets in the workforce than those who haven’t.
For these three reasons alone employers will favor those who have their forklift ticket over those who don’t. What more reason do you need to undertake forklift training and become certified as soon as possible.
